I am not sure what to fill in on this one, to be honest.
Usually people would say their health. And while I won’t say my health is in full decline and awful, it’s not like I am the beacon of amazing health.
There’s a lot that could be said with the start of this statement, but I feel like I can pick apart each one. As one ages, often times there’s fewer friends, family and the such. I’m no different. I never was married and have no kids.
But …

At least I have my sense of community.
This goes much bigger than the normal term of community.
Let me explain.
First, is the traditional sense. I love my community. My town and village is near and dear to me. Now actually owning a home, I’m a little more invested. I go to board meetings. I try and go to community events and activities. I try to get out and see what is going on. I’m on a “board” for a community event that runs each year.
I’ve always been a believer in the idea that if you have issues with something, you need to be involved to understand what is going on and how it works.
I’m not a rah rah rah person for everything. Social media has hurt a lot of things in communities as it gives people a platform to bitch and complain without leaving their home. Or if they “hear” something, it’s fact and they start whining and yapping.
A shame, too.
Community, though, goes a bit further in my eyes.
Maybe it’s helping a neighbor with some snow, or a lawn. Maybe it’s just stopping and talking to people. Or smiling and saying hello to a stranger. Maybe it’s making sure you support a local business or event. Maybe it’s taking somebody out to eat. Hell, maybe it’s just a text to somebody you haven’t spoken to in a while. Always remember, friendships especially, are a two-way street.
It’s a state of mind, in my eyes.
Life is a tough go as it is. So try and have that sense of community – in whatever form you feel it comes. How do you make sure you have a sense of community?

I support your sense of community. It doesn’t even take much. Some people, however, are too caught up in their own bubble do care for the ones around them.
If I lived in your neighborhood, I’d probably be actively involved in preparing these events and activities and posting about them 😉

We all were created for relationships. What that looks like will differ from person to person. Community can mean a lot of things. I live in a neighborhood so there is a sense of community among those around me. My church is another community where rich relationships are developed. In a more abstract sense, I have a blogosphere community where I interact with those who live well beyond my immediate borders. When I saw this prompt I thought you might finish the sentence with …..Harper! X
