.. And have ourselves a snack.
I’m going to guess I haven’t been to the movies since 2015. I remember going to see Creed in the theaters. At least I am pretty sure I did. If not, it may have been Rocky Balboa, so then you are talking 2006.
But I am pretty sure it was Creed.

That changed Christmas Eve when two of us went to watch The Iron Claw. This is one I knew I wanted to see, so when I could get an early show (before noon) for like $5, why not?
A total of three of us were in the theater for this showing.
Things have changed. I do remember some comfy chairs last time I went, but a recliner? That was nice. Prices are still like I remember – a popcorn and soda basically quadrupled the price of admission. That’s pretty crazy.
And I’m too old to be trying to sneak things into the theater. Plus, I’d rather just have popcorn anyway.
I can’t say that I’ll be going on a regular basis, but if I can catch a Sunday show at like 11 a.m. and get out of it cheaply – especially if going in and not needing any snacks – it might be worth it.
I mean, five bucks?

There are some great movies being made. Both for in theaters, and for streaming services. But there’s something about watching a movie on the big screen that is really nice.
I especially like it when the theater isn’t full.
Honestly, there’s been no reason as to why I haven’t gone to watch a movie on the big screen. Maybe it’s time. Maybe it’s not wanting to go by myself (and honestly, why not? It’s watching a movie!) Or maybe it’s spending the money. I don’t know what it is, but it definitely can be enjoyable. Maybe I’ll have to do it more often.
Back to the movie that brought me back out – The Iron Claw.
This movie was one I had been interested in from the beginning as it’s a biographical drama on the Von Erich family. Zac Effron stars as Kevin Von Erich, and I thought he did a great job. The story they told was good, though some things were missed. That being said, the Von Erich family story is quite vast, especially to try and tell in about two hours.
Overall, I thought it was solid and if you have any interest in wrestling, it’s worth seeing. Especially if you know he Von Erich history. I thought those who portrayed certain wrestlers did an admirable job (outside of the guy who played Ric Flair), which was good.
Movies like this are good, though, as it makes me want to go to the theater. Hopefully it won’t be another eighth-plus years before I go again!
How about you? Do you go to the movies often? What’s the last movie you saw in a theater?

I usually go with the grands so my options are limited to animation or fantasy genres. The last one we went to was Wonka. I didn’t know if I’d like it…being a Willie Wonka purist….but I really loved the story and the characters.
