This has been a mantra of mine recently, it seems.
I mean, truthfully, don’t we all think this at some point or another? Do you really want to be an adult?
Can’t I just stay home and hang out with Harper? I think she’d enjoy that.

Remember when you were a kid?
“God! I can’t wait to grow up.”
If there was time travel, I’d go back and slap myself right in the face. Reality is, though, you can’t stop time. Father Time always wins. As does Mother Nature.
But the whole grindstone thing. Having to work five days a week… 40 hours a week. Other parts of the world have four-day work weeks. My favorite when people say this is the “Oh you want to work fewer hours and get paid the same?”
I mean, sure.
Studies do show that shorter work weeks help morale and productivity. But those people yapping about the first part here likely wouldn’t understand facts anyway.

But I’m open to four 10-hour days if I get a three-day weekend. Give me Fri-Sun off and I can deal with the longer days. But in other countries where the four-day workweek is, I don’t think it’s 40 hours a week anymore, but I’m not sure the hours and such or the conditions etc.
Adulting, though, definitely sucks some. Bills, other expenses, going to work, dealing with personal life, health and many more things.
Goodness knows we don’t make enough money to cover all of the adulting … amiright?
Alas, we work the best we can to make our world and those in it as good as we can. Over time and as I have aged, I try to work on things differently.
Adulting, I am finding out, is a balance. You have to do everything you feel is necessary, but have to spend some frivolous time, too. And hobbies – you need hobbies. You need to get around and see things and breathe the fresh air. Be creative. Take naps. Goodness, take naps.
And pet dogs. Lots of them.
Reality is we have to adult. There’s no stopping it – unless you hit a lottery or are independently wealthy. Even then you will still have to be an adult sometimes. So, make the best of it … and when you don’t have to “adult,” well … avoid it!

If we have hobbies and things we love to do, it makes those adulting tasks much easier to accept! I know I’d like to do nothing but take pictures of Cabo….and birds right now. But, that would involve me putting on shoes and a coat…….something I’m not willing to do today! ?

Most of us are lucky enough to have a job that we more or less *like*. Imagine you had to work six days a week and do things you absolutely hate?
Either way, you are making a good point. Look for balance! Do the fun stuff! Harper is your role model 🙂
