Each year that I’ve done this challenge, I always have something related to cheese.
And that’s not the fromage of it all, rather to pay homage to somebody.
Though A ‘lil HooHaa has been around in one shape or form since 2005, it’s not always been a place where I made a whole lot of sense. In fact, when I first had it, there was some really bad writing! Go back and look. I’m pretty sure every rendition of the blog was brought over when I brought it to my own WordPress blog.

And maybe, one day, there will be another rendition – or just additions – as it keeps going.
But this writing challenge was something that grew out of the need and want for something different. I had sought out a writing challenge and found one at a block called “We Work For Cheese.” The owners were wonderful to deal with. Their writing was fun and interactive. The challenge lasted a few years and then ended. A few years later, one of those bloggers – Nicky – passed away.
Every once in a while, I go and try and peek at some of the blogs. Some are there and inactive. Some are fully gone.
After that challenge ended, I started this one. It’s never caught on to be something big, but it has been – at times – fun. I *try* and keep things going each January.
The thing with this challenge is that it gives me the feeling of the past, but in a good way. Blogging has changed over the years. I still enjoy the personal blogs – ones that don’t necessarily have a full theme, but just kind of allow you to know and meet the one doing the writing. I can’t relate to some blogs – ie mommy blogs – but I can relate to people just trying to make it through life.
Blogs can be good for that.
I don’t write as much as I should for this blog. It’s a place where, even if people don’t read, I can put some thoughts down and hold myself accountable when needed.
So each year as January comes around, I try to pay homage to a challenge that got me to really love challenges. I may try another in a few months for myself (not running it!) and see how it goes. I have some ideas for my future in blogging, if I can keep focused.
For now, though, get cheesy with it. Challenges shouldn’t be stressful. They should be a fun way to express yourself. I hope we have a few participants this year for this one and see where it goes.
I also hope each of you have fun visiting other blogs who do take part and see what they have to offer! For those who may just be stopping by – join us! You don’t have to do every one. The themes (and “rules”) are listed in this post, so pick and choose or do them all!
Oh, and on a cheesy note… I can’t think of the type, but a local place that sells a lot of cheese allowed me to taste a cheddar from the UK. Unfortunately, I can’t recall the name of it. But goodness, it was good!

There should be a spot at the bottom of the post that says “Linkup for Day 1” and then underneath a place for you to click that says “Click here to enter.”
And, magically, it is there just now.
