I am not sure what to fill in on this one, to be honest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Usually people would say their health. And while I won\u2019t say my health is in full decline and awful, it\u2019s not like I am the beacon of amazing health.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s a lot that could be said with the start of this statement, but I feel like I can pick apart each one. As one ages, often times there\u2019s fewer friends, family and the such. I\u2019m no different. I never was married and have no kids. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But \u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n

At least I have my sense of community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This goes much bigger than the normal term of community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let me explain. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

First, is the traditional sense. I love my community. My town and village is near and dear to me. Now actually owning a home, I\u2019m a little more invested. I go to board meetings. I try and go to community events and activities. I try to get out and see what is going on. I\u2019m on a \u201cboard\u201d for a community event that runs each year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve always been a believer in the idea that if you have issues with something, you need to be involved to understand what is going on and how it works. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m not a rah rah rah person for everything. Social media has hurt a lot of things in communities as it gives people a platform to bitch and complain without leaving their home. Or if they \u201chear\u201d something, it\u2019s fact and they start whining and yapping. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A shame, too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Community, though, goes a bit further in my eyes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe it\u2019s helping a neighbor with some snow, or a lawn. Maybe it\u2019s just stopping and talking to people. Or smiling and saying hello to a stranger. Maybe it\u2019s making sure you support a local business or event. Maybe it\u2019s taking somebody out to eat. Hell, maybe it\u2019s just a text to somebody you haven\u2019t spoken to in a while. Always remember, friendships especially, are a two-way street. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s a state of mind, in my eyes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Life is a tough go as it is. So try and have that sense of community \u2013 in whatever form you feel it comes. How do you make sure you have a sense of community?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
