{"id":15510,"date":"2022-01-17T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-01-17T13:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hoohaa.com\/?p=15510"},"modified":"2022-01-12T14:27:29","modified_gmt":"2022-01-12T18:27:29","slug":"20-days-of-chill-2022-so-i-walked-into-a-bookstore-day-11","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hoohaa.com\/?p=15510","title":{"rendered":"20 Days of Chill 2022: So I walked into a bookstore&#8230; (Day 11)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When I was younger, but still old enough to drive, I used to love going to the bookstore.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Waldenbooks.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Barnes and Noble.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Borders.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How great was it? Sure, you have independent ones around most areas. Or used book stores. And, of course, you can still go to Barnes and Noble.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But it\u2019s changed so much.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First, I don\u2019t read books as much as I should or like I used to. When I do, it\u2019s usually via Kindle. I just love the easy way to read as compared to books. But I really miss the ambiance of bookstores.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I could spend so much time in those stores. I\u2019d wander around l;eaf through a book or three and oftentimes buy something.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was great to peruse the travel section and daydream about where you\u2019d love to go one day.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019d go to the sports section to see if there were any new bios of somebody I needed to learn more about.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I always enjoyed the joke book section. You had game books and true life and fiction and horror and so many other genres. You could find planners and calendars and even games.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then Amazon and other online retailers took over.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Don\u2019t get me wrong \u2013 I use and love Amazon. But I do miss that brick and mortar experience.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I recently wandered through the local mall. Years ago, the mall housed a Waldenbooks store. I spent a lot of time in that store.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Down the hall from that spot is currently an independent bookstore. It never seems to be open when I am in the mall, though.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I think next time I am near Barnes and Noble, I\u2019ll need to go in and just wander around. I\u2019ll see what they have, the different sections, and all of the selections one could dive into. Maybe it\u2019ll really bring back some nostalgia. Maybe it will make me want to buy and read an actual book again.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Or maybe I\u2019ll realize it\u2019s a memory that will stay with me, but things have changed too much.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Time will tell.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>This post is part of the 2022 20 Days of Chill Writing Challenge hosted by A \u2018lil HooHaa.
