Video challenge: August 2026 (Fun)

I’m trying!

This challenge has been harder than I thought. I had this video taken in time. I did this on purpose, actually. A one-shot mini of Harper enjoying this treat.

For one, it’s fun to watch her when she has an ice cream. So it fit the challenge. And for two, it was kind of easy to plan this one out.

It seems once again — bad. I was even reminded, and I still slugged away.

The real life has been rough at times. If I can ever get my thoughts straight, I’ll do a blog post. In fact, there’s so much going on — a post would probably help me. We’ll see! Ha.

For now, here’s my video. I have some thoughts for the next theme, so hopefully I can hit a deadline. However, look below. I changed up due dates moving forward.

Theme for September: What makes you tick

For those who might be joining — the challenge is set up to have videos be 1-3 minutes long (ish), and follow the monthly announced theme. Do a blog post — or even a youtube post, and come back and link up here. I try and post the link up on the 5th of the following month. Any other questions about the challenge, let me know!

September’s theme will hopefully post October 5!

Video challenge: July 2026 (Tradition)

OK, super late here. But … bonus is the themes are announced. No excuses, but here we are.

Let me explain this video as I didn’t do a voice over. And it’s a short video. So allow me to explain the tradition here.

This is Delhi’s annual Fair on the Square. It happens each Friday in July and has been going on for more than 50 years. The event is Americana for sure. I remember it when I was a kid and they’d have hay rides, fire truck rides, things for kids and family etc.

Over time, it’s changed slightly. Obviously with liabilities and such, things like hay rides or fire truck rides have gotten bumped. But the premise is still there.

Each Friday, there are vendors, food trucks and other selections, music (opener, community band, then the main attraction), featured things for kids and families etc. The final week also always features a soap-box derby down a neighboring street. It’s a lot of fun and people love it.

I had bigger plans, but things didn’t happen as I hoped. Maybe next year!

However, from September on, I plan to change the date. So I will do that with the upcoming post, which I hope isn’t this late!

Video challenge: June 2026 (Your town)

So I did a bit of a turn with this one.

I think, at some point, we’ll have to re-visit this theme, though maybe a little different. I had a bunch of footage I shot and was going to do “your town” with Harper in so many things. Alas, the issue there is it’s hard to keep steady. When I looked at the footage, it was a lot more shaky than I would like.

Time to flip things.

First, I like how mine came out. This is a covered bridge in my town. It’s historical and I love covered bridges. I probably should have done a voice over with it as well, but I also think it came out nice with the music. What do you all think? Should this have had a voice over? Or does it tell a story?

I tried to give different vantage points and wanted to show this off. I love this bridge and have taken many photos and videos of it over time.

Video challenge: May 2026 (A day in the life)

It turns out you can have great ideas and then realize, hell … I didn’t do as much as I wanted!

My goal for A day in the life was to capture everything from my trip to Boston and the World Stamp Expo. Two of us were doing a day trip. I didn’t get everything I wanted, so thankfully I did a second day. And that day I took enough video for this theme.

Unfortunately, I still didn’t get it how I wanted it. I need to figure out ways to work on getting video and capturing it the way I want. I have to find my one gimbal so I can make it easier to carry my phone and record.

We shall see.

For those who participated this month, the linkup is late but down below. We’ll keep plugging along!

Video challenge: April 2026 (Outdoor adventure)

Cranking them out now!

So I stretched this month’s an extra day because, well, today is Harper’s fifth birthday. I had taken off from work and had plans to go on an adventure with Harper and a friend.

And a great day it was.

As I write this post, Harper is out cold on the floor and I’m guessing she will sleep well tonight.

Me, too, most likely!

One thing about this video. Though I don’t do a lot with AI – I do like the ability to create music. And this is one I did tonight. Though it could be better, I love the sound, beat, and lyrics. I’ll learn how to really craft these eventually. Hope you like it!

If you took part in this month’s challenge, link below! Hopefully as the challenge continues, some others will take part!

Anyway, here is my video submission. I will leave the linkup open for like a month.
