It’s the start of the Story Cube Challenge!
This one is simple. Every two weeks (on a Sunday), I will have a post using story cubes. There will be nine cubes in the photo. Your job is to turn those cubes into a story.
Fiction. Real life. Whatever. Just make a story.
The story cubes, depending on the ones that are used, often have suggested beginnings – such as “Once upon a time …” or something along those lines.
We won’t go that far with it, but it would be good to have some sort of a beginning that isn’t just “blogger like.”
For this first post … it’s just the first story cube photo. From this point out, every post will be a linkup. My submission for the challenge will lead, then there will be the linkup and the photo for the next post. That way, whoever is taking part in this challenge will have two weeks to write their post.
I think this can be a fun challenge. Eventually, I’m going to mix all the dice in one bag and just draw nine. So, we could have a mix of many different story cubes. As the challenge grows, so will this. I am using this to get some writing prompts, so I see it being fun. I hope everybody else sees it the same way. I will be adding more story cubes down the line as well.
Here are the “rules” for story cubes:
Roll all the cubes (already done) and look at the face-up images. Pick one as a starting point and tell a story that links all nine cubes.
That’s it!
Interpret it as you see. I can’t always tell what is on the cube, either, so you might have to go with it. All I would say is, in your post, maybe “bold” the nine items so we can all see you’ve linked them all. This is not required and sometimes we might all forget, but it’s worth the thought process!
The next date for this is January 21, which is when you’ll link up for this one and see the cubes for the next challenge. This will happen every two weeks.
The dates for 2018 are below the photo. Hope to see you all join along!
