It’s that time of the year again – the 20 Days of Chill Writing Challenge!
The second annual writing challenge is upon us and it’s time to announce the themes. I’m not sure how many people will take part in this (hopefully a few), but it starts Monday, January 4 and will run through January on weekdays only.
The themes and dates are below.
Hopefully by announcing a little early, you’ll have a chance to get ahead of the curve, so to speak, and have a few things written in advance. Don’t forget to come back here each day and link up your post so others can see what you’ve written.
There aren’t any rules with this, outside of having fun. Interpret the theme as you see fit. Posts can be fact, fiction, true, or fake – all up to you.
Themes came from submissions as well as others I’ve found. I randomly drew them and here’s what we have. Some should be interesting, that’s for sure.
A quick reminder on how this works: the day the theme is supposed to be posted, write a blog post, have it go live on your blog and come back here and link up. The hope is everybody will go and visit/comment on the other blogs. Without that, a challenge isn’t successful.
Here are the themes for 2016:
Week 1
- January 4: Who are you?
- January 5: Your favorite place
- January 6: Life just wouldn’t be the same
- January 7: Pen and paper
- January 8: A fading memory
Week 2
- January 11: Life’s turning point
- January 12: Summer rain
- January 13: A dose of vitamin N
- January 14: Slim pickings
- January 15: Misfortune
Week 3
- January 18: The best stadium food you ever ate
- January 19: Dreaming
- January 20: The day after last night
- January 21: If you had a million dollars …
- January 22: Can you hear me?
Week 4
- January 25: Vacation
- January 26: Home run
- January 27: Coin
- January 28: Your favorite meal
- January 29: The end
I hope we get some people involved with this. Maybe some of the people from last year, mixed in with those from this year. It’s a fun little challenge and it’s great to see what people come up with in regard to the themes.
Remember, you don’t have to do every theme (though I hope you will!), and just have fun with it!
So are you in? Let us know in the comments below! And let your blogging friends know, too. The more the merrier!

Just joining now. Is it too late?
Not at all. The beauty about this challenge is you can do as many as you want or as few. Come on board! 😀
