Did you get close to something this month?
Or did you look at this theme in a total different way?
The thing about a theme like this is that there are many different ways to look at things. You could be close to things in many different ways.
So how did you interpret it?
I went with the literal way of looking at things. I got pretty close to things this month. I also got a new lens (Canon’s 24mm pancake… rented, then bought… a cheap and awesome lens. It has some macro features), which allowed me to dive into this theme.
This was kind of a cool topic, in the end. I like closing in on things when I shoot them. Sometimes it comes out better than others. I like the five I chose for this month and I had one or two others (foliage) that I had to push aside, unfortunately.
I’m excited to see how others tackled this project.
Anyway, enough of my blabbing. Here are my five photos for the month of October!
1. A cold one
Earlier this month, I went to one of the local festivals held in my area each fall. I don’t always go, but it was a perfect day and I met up with an old friend. It’s nice to enjoy a fine local (Ommegang) beer and catch up on things.

Tasty!
2. Color
I took advantage of a day off and a warm fall day and hit a local state park for some photos. Looks like some nature was enjoying the warmth, too.

Hanging on!
3. Championship gold
I am working on a project for an independent wrestling federation and took some images of their championship belts. I thought closing in on the title would be pretty cool.

The championship!
4. Hungry!
How can I go a month without Cam? He was a hungry boy on this day… so a little closer look at that!

Mmmm…
5. Autumn
The fall is here and quickly turning. Most leaves are off trees. I liked the look of this one when I saw it … holding on as long as it could.

Hanging on as long as it can!
That’s my five and now it’s your turn!
If you took part in this month’s challenge, make sure to link up below. And for those of you who participated, make sure you try and get to other people’s blogs and comment (here, too!). Let’s continue to grow this challenge and have a strong community. Come back and check out the others who link later on, too!
Also, don’t forget to get back here Sunday, November 1 to see the theme for November!
NOTE: I set up a Facebook group for those who participate in the challenge and are interested. I’ll post any announcements there and hopefully it can be a place where things are discussed and some interaction etc. You can access it here.
Feel free to leave a comment, or e-mail P.J. at hoohaablog@gmail.com. Also, please “Like” HooHaa Blog on Facebook!
I’m a lot like that leaf. I cling to summer with all of my might. Only a strong, cold, wet wind can yank me back to reality. 🙂
Great theme this month!

I hear ya there. It’s tough to sometimes let the summer go. I like the fall, but I know what that will eventually lead to!
I’m lovin your photos and your new look blog. The beer does looks tempting with a nice creamy head on it. I notice the wet ring mark next to the beer glass on the table works well with your watermark, which is an added bonus the image.
The wrestling Championship belt looks huge and really sharp nice shot!

Thanks so much! I’m still learning the nuances of this theme, but I’m liking it so far, too! And thanks so much … I enjoyed the theme this month, too. Hopefully others did as well!
Great close ups! I really love the purple flower especially!

Thanks, Rachel! That flower was with the new lens, which I am really digging!
Great job as always PJ!
I like the unique ones like the wrestling belt and the local beer!

Thanks, Danielle! The belt photo is one I am glad came out as well as it did. So many details!
Love your new look! I’m sure you had great fun playing with your new lens. I really like the flowers and the leaf shots. I was excited to see eight links already up by the time I got here. 🙂
Thanks, Lisa! I am digging this look, too! The new lens is a lot of fun. And it’s a highly affordable lens, which is great. I’m also excited about all the links. I’d like to see it keep growing!
Great post! I really like the new look of the blog as well.

Thanks, Kathy! I appreciate it!
I really like photos of the flower, leaf, and your son. The way the subject pops with the blurring of the background is very eye-catching.

Thanks, Kristi. Though Cameron isn’t my son, he’s my nephew/godson. 🙂
I like the flower! So pretty 🙂

I’m glad you found the challenge and enjoyed it, Leola. I hope you’ll continue to join us each month!
Wow, these are great! My FAVORITE is the leaf one… just gorgeous. And I like “hanging on” too. And beer. Beer is good. 🙂

I seriously think I took like 15 shots of that leaf before I got one that I liked. I like how it came out, too. On a side note, it fell off about 10 minutes later (I was still in that spot taking other shots), so it’s even cooler that I actually got it before it fell.
Such a lovely flower. Great “closeup” all around. Thanks again for hosting.

Thanks, Mike! This was a fun month!
Hi PJ. You have to be pleased with the number of people taking part this month. Don’t know if it’s the Facebook page or the mention in the Daily Post at WordPress, but hey, whatever works!
I continue to enjoy the square aspect ratio you use for these posts. Also wanted to say I like the new look and feel of your site.
Love the way you consistently bring so many of your interests to the monthly challenge…wrestling, Cam, geocaching, the great outdoors, board games, etc. Coming up on three years of photographing roughly the same subjects in so many different ways. Well done!

I am super excited with the amount of people who participated this month. I’d love to see more take part in it. Hopefully if we stay interactive in the Facebook group, people will keep it in their mind and keep going. I know it can be hard to stay reminded of it when you go a whole month without doing much with it etc.
And thanks for the new look comment. I’m digging it, but still need to do some things to make it “me.”
I think the key to a challenge is to always try and incorporate things you enjoy and love into what you take photos of. It doesn’t always work, but I always try. Now… this month’s theme might be a little harder, so I have other ideas on the mind!
I’m a little late to linking up! Hope it isn’t too late. I really enjoyed this months topic and had a lot of fun with it! I look forward to looking at all the other submissions!

Not too late! As long as the linkup is still live, it’s no problem to add that link!
