The spring is here … and soon, so will the summer.
For May, out theme was “fun.” Despite not getting out with my main camera, I do have some snaps of fun things I did this month.
Being employed again is a wonderful thing. But, it also cuts into some of that free time I used to have. So when I get home from work, I am not always up for getting out and doing some photography. So, as has been the case for the past few months, I need to rely on the iPhone, which did well for me. I think I captured some of the things that I put in the “fun” category.
What I truly like, though, is that I realize what “fun” is once again. For a while there, I attempted but wasn’t truly having it. Now that I feel I am getting back to where I need to be, I enjoy things much more.
Anyway, without further adieu, here is my five for the month of May.
1. Geocaching
I got back into this a bit this month and it also included a trip to the ASP Geobash, a mega event a few hours from me. I always enjoyed this event, but haven’t had the ability to do it the past few years. Therefore, it was nice to get there this year. On top of going geocaching, I’ve also had the chance to start placing geocaches. I have a goal of getting to 100 places caches. My profile shows 86 at this moment, but I have four adopted caches, too. So my legit place count is 82. That means 18 more caches to place. I have some ideas that will help that total out, so now it’s just getting it done. Pictured here are a bunch of containers I am working on placing (some already have been placed).
2. Baseball scorekeeping
I love baseball. And on top of that, I love keeping score at games. I’m a bit of a baseball nerd, you could say. When I go to minor league games, I bring my scorebook and this book – Baseball America’s yearly prospect guide. This way, we can look up who we are seeing and circle the ones who might be listed in the top 30 of the organization’s minor league system.
3. Food
I love good food. And despite now really having to watch my diet, I can still eat good things. This was earlier in the month though — before I had to adapt to something more strict. So good!
4. Bad wrestling
I have friends who are professional wrestlers, and they always seemed to be amazed that I truly enjoy awful wrestling. And it’s not that I like it so much, rather more that it’s quite entertaining to see the train wreck unfold. The local summer college wood-bat league baseball team held a fundraiser at their park with some wrestling. The setup was pretty cool, but the actual action was auction. I can’t complain for $10 though.
5. Baseball
Yes, two baseballs on this list. I love the game. I love watching it. And I love trying to find artsy ways of taking photos. This is one from Syracuse. I wanted to get my seat section in with a pitcher warming up. Play ball!
And that’s my five for the month.
If you took part this month, make sure you link up below. And for those who participated, make sure you try and get to other people’s blogs and comment and visit so we can continue to grow this challenge.
Don’t forget, too, to come back Sunday, May 1 and see the theme for May!
NOTE: I also set up a Facebook group for those who participate in the challenge and are interested. I’ll post any announcements there and hopefully it can be a place where things are discussed and some interaction etc. You can access it here.

Despite all that working, it looks like you had a good amount of fun this month. Glad your *fun mojo* has returned!

I haven’t kept score at a baseball game since I was younger, but a few years ago I sat next to an advance scout and he didn’t mind that I spent much of the game watching him track pitches! I want a ‘score card’ like that for the next game!

Great pics, P.J. I love the sandwich. You fooled me this month. I was all set to go tomorrow and then I saw your post on Facebook. Keeping us on our toes, eh?

Nice bunch of pictures. I didn’t get out to any college baseball games this year. My weekends have just been full. Geocaching is taking the same hit. I’ll be back though!

My list didn’t even include geocaching this month, although I have a couple of shots that I took while geocaching. I’ve always tried to keep a 1% ratio of finds to hides. I was above that mark, but now I’m slightly below it due to my increase in the number of finds I have. I did place a couple of caches this month, but I’ve found that when I place caches, I need to archive others, because otherwise, all I’d be doing would be maintenance on them.

Hi PJ – Not surprised to see geocaching, baseball and wrestling in your mix. We did a bit of geocaching in May, too – mostly spring geocache maintenance plus a couple of new hides. I’d like to get out to find some in June. We’re within 20 finds of our 4000 milestone.
Those are great photos from yous iPhone. I finally upgraded to a new phone in late April and face a long journey up the Android camera app learning curve!

I love that you caught one of the wrestlers mid-flip, and the baseball shot is just so summery. Nice choices!

I keep score at the games also. I have since the 1980’s when I lived in Houston.
