Did you feel festive in December?
I sure hope so if you were taking part in the photo challenge! I honestly didn’t take many photos with my regular camera this much, even though I had planned on doing so. Such is the life when trying to adjust to many new things. But I snapped many a shot with the phone, so my post will have a bit of an Instagram theme.
What’s really too bad, though, is some of the best festive images I took were work-related, and I don’t really feel comfortable posting them here. It’s too bad as there are some that I really loved.
I actually enjoyed this month for the first time in the past couple of years. Though I didn’t dislike it in the past, it didn’t feel the same. This time, it did. So many things happened this month and I’ve had the chance to really get into things a little differently.
What I truly love about this month is there’s so much to be festive with. Hopefully there will be some different takes on the them. I pretty much went with the traditional way of looking at things as I was finally in that frame of mind once again.
So, without wasting any more time, here are my five images for the month.
1. Gifts
This image isn’t just about gifts, but rather a small buildup of ones for my brother’s new son, who was born a few days before Christmas. This is a few of those boxes. Having the new guy around for Christmas really made it a festive time.
2. Elf with a beer
The Elf on the Shelf thing is pretty hot, it seems. Anyway, at my one brother and sister-in-law’s house, it seems to be a game. On Christmas Eve, I came across it in the fridge. He looked thirsty… so…
3. Caching Christmas
Our area has an annual geocaching event/ornament exchange. It’s one of my favorite events of the year and this year, as usual, was pretty solid all around. This is the tree/ornaments at the event.
4. Christmas light
I love the looks of lights during the Christmas season. It really puts me in the festive mood.
5. Caramels
My mother’s homemade caramels are definitely part of the season and always make you feel festive!
And that’s my five for the month of December.
If you took part this month, make sure you link up below. And for those who participated, make sure you try and get to other people’s blogs and comment and visit so we can continue to grow this challenge.
Don’t forget, too, to come back tomorrow (Jan. 1) and see the theme for January!
NOTE: I also set up a Facebook group for those who participate in the challenge and are interested. I’ll post any announcements there and hopefully it can be a place where things are discussed and some interaction etc. You can access it here.

Excellent set of shots P.J. The Elf on a Shelf brought a smile to my face, as I’ve had fun on Facebook recently posting with a friend of mine finding “Inappropriate Elf on a Shelf” photos. Yours fits the bill, although I’ve never seen an Elf with that kind of face before. Most of the ones I’ve seen have a more cherubic looking face, which makes the inappropriateness even more funny.

Thanks, Paul. I enjoyed this month’s theme some and had others to choose from, but these were my favorites. The elf made me laugh, too. Funny stuff. I think this elf is a bit older, so maybe that’s why the face looks like that?
Lovely shots. I love the elf on a shelf and really must get one for next year. We’ll have fun hiding him in different places.

Thanks, Babs. I agree. Seems like it would be fun to do. I think it would be fun to even just do a 25 days of Elf, even if it was solo. Good photo opps, maybe. Haha
Nice shots, P.J. And damn, those homemade caramels are pulling out my fillings as I look at them.

Nah, they are soft enough where you’d be safe, Mike. 😉
Those are some fun Christmas holiday pics. Elf with a beer is the best!

I wish I could have figured a way to make the elf drink the beer!
LOL!! The Elf on the (frig) shelf made me giggle. Never know where he’ll turn up next. Love the shot of the Christmas light. And congrats on adding another one to the clan! Had a great time selecting shots this month.

With kids in my brother’s house, it’s pretty tame I think. I can only imagine where an elf could be in a different home!
How wonderful to be greeting a new little life into your world just in time for Christmas … that elf scares me … they are always found in the most unexpected places … eeeks!!!
Happy New Year to you!

Indeed, a very cool thing to have him added. And an elf can definitely pop up anywhere!
Jo and Lisa — I fixed your links and set it up so only one link for you etc.!
Oh my GOODNESS. Elf on the shelf has pumpkin ale! I WANT HIS PUMPKIN ALE!!!
I love your creativity! My favorite is of course Mr. Elf, plus the blue light… so pretty!

I wish there had been a winter ale there, but the Pumpkin Ale had to work!
Hi P.J. – Thanks for continuing to organize the monthly photo blogging challenge. I truly enjoy taking part.
I like the simple, symmetrical format you consistently use for your posts. The square format for your photos works really well.
Good work incorporating geocaching festivities along with more traditional ones. I don’t know if you shared your mother’s caramel recipe at any time in the past, but if you did, I missed it and would appreciate a link pointing me in the right direction. They look fantastic!
