As a geocacher, I’m a fan of geocoins.
Basically, geocoins are trackable items that travel from cache to cache. However, there are also coins people keep in their personal collection. In that case, one can discover the coins etc.
Today, I am showing the first coin (that I remember, anyway) that made my personal collection. It came from a Groundspeak volunteer, who was really helpful to me during my first few months of caching. He sent me a “care package” with a couple of cache containers and this coin. It’s a coin given to volunteers. Some keep them, some set them in the wild and some give them away,
I was lucky enough to get one.
It’s still one of my favorite coins in my collection, too.
The front and back are below.

My family and I just started Geocaching this last year and the kids love it. We haven’t yet found any coins, but that will be a fun thing to look forward to!

Hopefully you get to find some coins and travelers. They make the game fun!
I have to admit, I really don’t understand geocaching, but it does sound like a fun experience. I love the little froggy(?) guy on this coin. Also, I finally completed the Liebster tag…it took a while, but it’s now out there for everyone to read. 🙂 Have a great day!

It’s really easy, especially with smartphone apps helping. Basically, somebody hides something in the wilderness. Then somebody goes and finds. You sign the log, maybe trade some trinket and then replace and move on. Lots of fun!
Oh my gosh, my husband has been yapping about Geocoins for the past week or so. I’m clearly geo-challenged, but it’s nice to see someone else out there is talking about it, too. I’ve been doing a lot of “smile and nodding” as he was going on and on.

Geocoins are truly cool things. 🙂
There for awhile, I was really into geocoins. I have some in my permanent collection and others that I should just sell on eBay to get my money back. I don’t release any anymore because they seem to disappear too quickly.

I still love them but usually only buy ones for my personal collection for events etc., so I can remember things. I don’t usually buy to get regular old ones etc.
That’s pretty cool. I guess you won’t be giving that one away!
