Photo Blogging Challenge (September 2019): Nature

September 30, 2019

I’m quite sure nobody is ready for a vacation to end.

I know I usually am not.

When this posts publishes, I’ll be back at work and doing the daily grind again after nearly two weeks off. The goal was to be relaxed and refreshed, and I think that was accomplished. We’ll see how long it lasts!

But the end of the month also means it’s time for a challenge linkup!

I had a few photos earlier in the month, but after this trip … this is where the photos for my challenge are coming from this time around.

I hope you all had as much fun with this challenge for the month as I did. I actually had a hard time picking just five shots for the month.

Here are my five!

1. High above

This view is at the top of a mountain in Banff, Alberta. The views were absolutely stunning. Even with the town below, nature is seen all the way around. We got up here via a wonderful gondola ride and then walking around the top. Very cool experience.

View of Banff from above

2. Lake Louise

One of the most famous spots in Banff National Park is Lake Louise. Unfortunately, this trip only took us through Banff for a day, so we only had the chance to hit this lake (among the several I’d love to see), and it didn’t disappoint. Simply breathtaking.

3. Wapta Falls

Geocaching brings you to some wild places, and this is just one of them. Nestled into Yoho National Park in British Columbia, this set of falls takes about a 1.5 or so mile walk one way. As it got a little later, we stopped to get a park pass and asked the girl if we had time. She said she thought we did, but coming out we might need flashlights. She was correct. The walk out wasn’t bad – the way back was tougher with the terrain. But this was all for an Earthcache, and one I’ll not soon forget. (And yes, we climbed up on that ridge in front of the falls and got a bit wet in the process).

4. Bridal Falls

This was a set of falls we stopped to see on the first day of this journey. A nice hike to them. These were really wonderful and with not many people there, it was extremely peaceful as well.

5. Looking out

This is at the top of an area in Oregon as we chased some old geocaches. I can say this – this may have been a 1/1 in 2000, but it’s definitely not a 1 terrain in my mind. The way up was a struggle for me. My knees don’t handle going steep like this well. But slow and steady was the way to go and we reached it. It was a cloudy and dreary day, but the views were still impressive.

And there are my five for the month!

If you took part in this month’s challenge, make sure to link up below.

And for those of you who participated, make sure you try and get to other people’s blogs and comment (here, too!).

Let’s continue to grow this challenge and have a strong community. Come back and check out the others who link later on, too! NOTE: I set up a Facebook group for those who participate in the challenge and are interested. I’ll post any announcements there and hopefully it can be a place where things are discussed and some interaction etc. You can access it here.

Wow! So glad you got some good fall colour on your trip through our part of the world. Good thing you came when you did…Banff NP and your driving route back to the US have received a major dump of snow over the past 72 hours. Our yard has anywhere from 20 – 40 cm (8 – 16 inches) of undisturbed snow and we’re still under a snowfall warning for today.

As for the Wapta Falls earthcache, we still haven’t done it. Your amazing photo has me adding it to our “must do” list for 2020.

There was some good color and just a great trip overall. I need to experience Banff for a longer period of time, though, It was amazing and I definitely want more. I’m glad we were there when we were as snow… no thanks! Wapta Falls… definitely do it. I’m glad when we were there … there was barely a soul else around! Thanks for all the tips before we took the trip!

Absolutely stunning photos, PJ! ? We live in eastern Canada and have never been that far west but would love to go. Thanks for sharing your vacation with us! P.S. Good thing you made it back before that snowstorm hit.

I’m getting heart-shaped eyes over here. Banff and Lake Louise are some of my favorite spots in Canada. Glad you got to enjoy it!
The first time we were there there was so much fog, we barely saw the other side of the lake, let alone the mountains. Then two years ago, boom, the perfect blue sky day!

It was enjoyable, but not nearly long enough. I hope for a return trip! I’m glad we had a day to see some things. Interestingly enough, the blue skies only popped out shortly after we arrived!

Well, you’ve just added something else to my bucket list. I’ve always heard my dad talk about Banff, and I was pretty sure I’d get there eventually, but it’s been moved up considerably. The earth cache looks very intriguing. Got a link?

Harper got her first foul ball (as you can see she enjoyed!) and we also had the chance to grab a couple others and give them to some other dogs. All in all, four dogs walked away with balls!

I rarely sit on a window seat when flying, but both flights today had open spots, so two of us could comfortably be in a three-seat row. Sat next to the window to do some photos/video and got some nice shots. Flying still amazes me. @SouthwestAir #Southwest #Flying #Airplane

I hate being in front of the camera, but also realize sometimes it's not the worst thing in the world. So, I'm getting better with it. Week 4's theme was all about us and having us in front of the camera, so I tried to come up with a creative way to do it.

The theme for Week 3 of the 52-week video challenge was "Show your process of making something." Alas, I didn't get the time to do what I wanted to do, so I attacked something I filmed over the summer that I kept putting off.
