Sometimes change can give one a jump.
Recently, I’ve been keeping a notebook with blog ideas. I’ve failed miserably to get myself back in the swing of things, so I’m hoping if I start jotting down ideas, I’ll start to get the bug.
I think the key is making sure things are a little shorter.
It’s kind of crazy, if you think about it. One full year of blogging every day has absolutely dragged the dread through several years.
So, now, I’m trying and trying with ideas that are a potpourri of ideas covering anything from baseball and geocaching, to reviews and random nonsense.
One thing I’d like to do, though, is “rebrand” myself. No, the name won’t change. That’s mine. But I want to change the look and feel of the site. So I’m looking at themes I can customize, my color scheme, and logos and such. This way, maybe I can start getting myself back into things in that regard. This theme has treated me well, but it’s time for a revamp.
I want something a bit more on the simple side and maybe not have so many things going on. The header images are nice and fun, but become a bit of a pain when dealing with posts and having to create something.
The themes I am down to (I have a couple I am looking at) are clean, crisp, and allow a bit more of a personal touch. I’m also looking to create (or have created) new logos and such so I can try and “brand” my blog, despite not looking to make money at all on it.
Maybe it’s just time for me to understand how things work within the new WordPress structure (blocks and such), and this change can be a way I change with it.
Have any of you gone through redesigns and such? What was your process like?

Went through a change about 5 years ago, and then again at the end of April when I accidentally changed themes and couldn’t remember what theme I used to use!! Decided not to bother digging around trying to find that detail because I liked the new, cleaner look (and so did Mr. GeoK). I do need to come up with a new logo though – once specifically for the blog rather than a carryover from one of our geocaching pathtag designs.
I can relate to your comment about carryover into many years in the future. The same thing happened to us with geocaching. 2009 is the last year we found ~1,000 caches in a single year and here we are, 10 years later, with three finds in 2019. Hope your joy and purpose in blogging is reignited by your design update.
Sounds great! Can’t wait to see what you come up with for your new look!
Redesigns can absolutely breathe new life into any website! 🙂 I scrapped my old, free theme a few years ago for a premium one and did a complete overhaul. It was a lot of work, but also a great learning experience and I was pleased with the end result. Took about a month to get it completely finished. Have fun exploring your creativity, PJ!

I adjusted my name from “confessions of a part-time working mom” to “part-time working hockey mom”, and the design. Just clicked through the options that blogger offered and picked what felt right.
Good luck!
