Tropical islands.
Warm destinations.
Sun and blue water.
Beaches and sunglasses.
That’s what many people think when it comes to winter vacations. That’s why people plan trips to so many warm destinations when snow flies in other areas.
And I would normally agree. But for some reason, I have this fascination with Barrow, Alaska. I am not sure I’d like to be there in the middle of the winter as I once thought would be cool.
But there’s still something about it.

I am a snow lover so Alaska has always been my dream state but those temps… Yeah… I’m thinking maybe Alaska isn’t the year-round home for me but I would definitely go when it’s snowy just not that cold. 🙂
I like the snow, too … but add it with the bone-chilling temps and it’s just miserable! Alaska is a bucket list item for me, too… but probably not as the temps in my blog post!
The Bahamas would definitely be better! I looked up Barrow and they are only a little colder and most parts of NY has way more snow than Barrow. As fickle as the weather is here in NC, I’ll take it!
Barrow can get way colder than I’ve seen recently when I was doing that blog post. But … I’d probably rather go when the weather is more friendly so as to actually be able to enjoy that area!
I’m shivering just reading those temperatures! :0 Give me 80 degrees and sunny any day. I suffer through the winter; hands gripped around a steaming hot beverage or wrapped in an electric blanket. Fortunately, our winter has been relatively mild, so far.

Yes, some of those temps would be tough to handle. But I also don’t like temps too hot — at least if there’s humidity. If I could be somewhere between 40-75 all year, I’d be a happy camper.
