Photo Blogging Challenge (May 2018): Outdoor activities

June 2, 2018

The weather seems to finally being helpful to be outdoors.

At least some of the time.

And, of course, that probably depends on where in the world you are.

In the Northeast — at least near me — it’s been harder at times to get outside. Rain and gloomy weather. But we’ve had some.

So, it was time to get outdoors.

For this month, I basically went with my phone. I need to start using my main camera more, but at times it’s not easy to want to drag it around!

There’s a lot of ways to handle this theme, so how did you do it? Mine are below!

So let’s get on with this! Here are my five and I look forward to other posts!

1. Hiding

When outside activities are mentioned, geocaching is one of them. This month I hid a few caches for a challenge (this is one spot), and I also found a bunch as I had the chance to attend GeoWoodstock, which became the first giga event in North America.

2. Creative finds

Who says all micro finds have to be crappy? This is one we found during the GwoWoodstock trip. Very nicely done!

3. Traditional find

It’s still nice to find the more “traditional” finds while out caching. In a tree, in some woods etc.

4. Baseball

When the warmer weather comes, I watch as much baseball as I can. It’s a great way to spend a day/night.

Perfect day for #baseball!

5. Yum

Not a great shot — but wanted to capture the moment as Cameron was fully focused on this ice cream!

There are my five. I look forward to seeing what everybody else came up with!

If you took part in this month’s challenge, make sure to link up below. And for those of you who participated, make sure you try and get to other people’s blogs and comment (here, too!). Let’s continue to grow this challenge and have a strong community. Come back and check out the others who link later on, too!

Also, don’t forget to get back here in the next day or so for the June theme!

NOTE: I set up a Facebook group for those who participate in the challenge and are interested. I’ll post any announcements there and hopefully it can be a place where things are discussed and some interaction etc. You can access it here.

Geocaching, Baselball and Cameron – looks like you had a great month!

I don’t mind “Micros”, especially if they’re as nice as the one you found. Not a fan of Nanos though. Too tough for me to find, and don’t get me started on actually getting the “Logbook” out and fitting it back in…

I haven’t done any geocaching in years! I may have to do it again.. I loved it so much. The micro looks so cute – I used to hate those but THAT one is awesome! My favorite photo is the baseball cap, which is surprising because I am not a sports person. But the shot is just so wonderful!

I know absolutely nothing about geocaching….but think it’s fascinating! Love the shot of Cameron enjoying his frozen treat. The composition of the shot with the baseball cap and field is fantastic.

I have not cached in so long it’s sad. I need to get back out after it cools off.

Good for you for continuing to geocache on at least semi-regular basis. We haven’t done much this year, but have finally come up with an idea for the new virtual cache “hide” we were awarded last summer. Should be able to get it submitted for review by the end of June and then we’ll see what cachers think! Are there any new virtuals in your area?

I also guess this is why hitting back roads to work is good -- you can stop and take a photo and not worry about anybody coming (usually)! Main roads around here are fine for now, but it's definitely quite picturesque on the lawns/trees etc.

When I covered MiLB years ago for a small daily, managers sometimes wanted my opinion or asked me to talk to the scorekeeper about changing a ruling. There should be a happy medium somewhere now being most or all teams have video/TV. That wasn’t the case with the team I covered.

Another change to the minors is in store this year.

MLB informed minor league teams they will not be allowed to appeal rulings made by official scorers this year.

@jjcoop36 explains why:

I mean, if you hold a #Wrestlemania in an open stadium... eventually rain delays had to come, right? 🤣
