For more than 20 years, I worked in newspapers. It started when I was in junior high and went well into my adult life.
Weeklies and dailies. I’ve been in many newsrooms throughout my life. Some were dirtier than others. Some were more modern than others. But the ambiance was always there.
And yet, I never have been a coffee person.
For those of you who have ever spent time in a newsroom, coffee is a mainstay. At one point, one of the dailies I worked for, had some contract with a local company and had like three different types of coffee each day.
I never had one cup.
In my lifetime, I’ve “tried” coffee a couple of times. To me, it’s disgusting. The taste. The smell. Everything about it. And the smell of it on people’s breaths. Especially if one is a smoker (been around too many like that) – goodness, no thanks.
I have a Keurig and it’s used only for tea and hot chocolate. I don’t want coffee to ever go through it. That’s the beauty of having my own Keurig – I make the rules.
Coffee is just nasty.
I know there are a ton of fancy coffees and flavored. Heck, it’s not even just a hot beverage anymore – you can get ice coffee!
I know there are probably plenty of people reading this who love coffee. I’ve heard all the “try this or try that.”
Nope. I’m good.
I went through many years in newsrooms and got by just fine. I am pretty sure I’m not missing anything!
