It shocks me that today, this challenge turns four.
I started this challenge in March 2013, hoping to have a steady challenge to get me to get out and take photos more. Though it hasn’t grown to where I’d like it to be (I would love to see 20-25 consistent contributors), I truly enjoy where we’re at and the group of people who continually take part in the challenge.
For me, it’s done wonders to get me out more. Yes, there are months where I kind of didn’t think about it much, but for the most part I’ve been able to get out more and take more photos. As I continue my quest to get healthier, I’m hoping my camera becomes a major part of helping me do so. It’s nice to go on hikes and such with the camera and hope to capture some wonderful things.
So today, we turn four.
Over the past few years, we’ve had some incredible photos. I’ve enjoyed every aspect of it and I’ve really liked seeing everybody’s images. Sometimes it takes me a couple of months to get around and visit everybody’s blogs, but I always attempt to. I hope, for the most part, I’ve visited every photo every done with this challenge.
That’s my hope, anyway.
The community aspect of this challenge — and blogging in general — has been something I’ve always enjoyed. Challenges help with that, so make sure you come back to see other people’s posts and links and visit them.
My hope is this challenge continues for years to come. I have themes figured for the next couple of years (not kidding), so we may as well keep going. Check out the theme below and get some of your fellow bloggers to join us and help the challenge grow!
But first…
I always have some housekeeping things:
Here’s how it works.
- See the theme (first day of the month);
- Take photos throughout the month (don’t use old ones!);
- Select five photos and create a blog post;
- Come back here and link up on the final day of the month;
- Use the official hashtag — #Photoblogchal — on social media posts;
- Hopefully go visit and comment on other blogs.
That’s it. There’s no rules on equipment or anything else. Blog posts can be short and to the point, or in-depth. Interpret the themes as you see fit.
The one big rule?
Have fun!
This month’s theme? Four. This should be an interesting theme. Have some fun with this one and interpret it as you see fit. If you know others who might enjoy this challenge, pass it along. Please make sure your blog post publishes Friday, March 31. Then come back here and link up.
If you think you are going to take part in this, drop a comment below so we can see who all might be trying to tackle this challenge!
There is also a Facebook group for those who are interested.

Although I have not participated for the entire four years, I love this monthly challenge. The feeling of community that happens when people participate and interact with each other….despite being miles, state or continents apart…is amazing. The photos I see from others are such an inspiration to me…especially when my Muse seems to disappear. Thank you for keeping this going! Now, I’m going to look for 4-leaf clovers!
I always like your look on the theme. The community is fun and I like interacting with others. I need to go back and do some visiting and commenting though as I am way behind. I’m glad you’ve enjoyed and here’s to many more years. If people were somewhat closer, it sure would be fun to have a meetup of this group!
I have been on and off with this mostly challenge, but I’ve recently picked up my DSLR camera again after a long hiatus. This looks like it could be a fund challenge this month.
Paul Myers recently posted..The right way to apologize
Glad to hear you’ve picked the DSLR back up, Paul. We miss seeing your posts for this challenge. You should definitely rejoin us and show off your skills!
Happy Anniversary! 🙂
I’ve barely been around a year, but I do love this challenge!
As for FOUR, I’m inspired, I know which one my number one picture is gonna be – if I get to take it, that is.
I am looking forward to see what people do with this challenge. I need to get out and do some photos to get mine figured out. Here’s to many more years!
