As I sit here writing this, just a day and change away from flipping the camera, I can’t help but to think about where the time has went.
This year flew by and we, again, had 12 months of the Photo Blogging Challenge. Some months have been better than others in all aspects, including the photos, the themes, and the amount of participants.
I have liked seeing the challenge grow a bit and here’s hoping 2017 will allow us to grow even a bit more.
And despite this month’s challenge being pretty easy, I found I didn’t get out as much as I could have to take photos. I feel like I definitely could have done more with this theme and with photographs overall.
Alas, take it as they come, right?
So, yes, this month is traditional for me. There’s a focus on Cameron, with a couple of other things mixed in. I’ll look forward to checking out all the other people’s posts this month to see what they came up with.
Before I get to my photos — two things.
First, 2016 was a crazy year for blogging as I went with one post per day, which made life hard when it comes to visiting other blogs. I always attempted to visit all linked posts, but I know I probably didn’t get to every one. In 2017, I’m going to be much better about that, including making sure I go back at the end of the linkup (usually seven days after the original post) to visit and comment on each post. I urge each of you to do the same so we can make this a great community.
Second, the annual writing contest I run starts Monday. It runs weekdays during January and is called the 20 Days of Chill. The themes for each day have already been announced and each is open to interpretation. I’d love to see some of you join. Note: The linkups for those will be here each day of the challenge and they are only live for about two days. Information can be viewed at: https://hoohaa.com/?p=12004.
OK, with all that out of the way, let’s get to my images for the final month of 2016.
‘Tis the Season indeed!
1-3. Cameron and Christmas
OK, Cameron definitely understood Christmas this year a bit more. At least the parts with gifts and Santa. He opens things on his own, is curious and knew Santa was coming, Lots of fun!
4. Santa
Cameron loved this tickle Santa.
5. Another year
I hope you all had a fantastic holiday season!
There are my five and I look forward to seeing what others had this month!
If you took part in this month’s challenge, make sure to link up below. And for those of you who participated, make sure you try and get to other people’s blogs and comment (here, too!). Let’s continue to grow this challenge and have a strong community. Come back and check out the others who link later on, too!
Also, don’t forget to get back here Sunday, January 1 for the January theme!
NOTE: I set up a Facebook group for those who participate in the challenge and are interested. I’ll post any announcements there and hopefully it can be a place where things are discussed and some interaction etc. You can access it here.

I see you’ve taken my advice and – lacking baseball games in December – tripled the amount of Cameron. It is such a fun age when kids get excited about Santa and the gifts!
I am so grateful I had the opposite of your problem – I got out too much and had trouble limiting myself to only five shots.
Thank you for hosting this – and the upcoming – challenge.
Happy new year from Switzerland!
Well those photos of Cameron were already planned for sure! I knew he would be a part of it, I had just planned several other things to go with it. Unfortunately, I didn’t. Here’s to 2017 and planning out the challenges better!
Glad you enjoy the challenges and here’s to them continuing! Happy New Year!
Awww. Cameron looks so happy!
Here’s wishing you and your family a joyous 2017.
Thanks for hosting this challenge PJ! It’s been a bright spot for me in an otherwise unhappy year.

It was very cool this year with Cameron “getting it” so it was fun. Here’s to a happy new year to you and yours as well. I am glad you’ve enjoyed the challenge, and here’s to many more!
Looks like your season was filled with fun and family. A perfect combination for the holidays. Thank you for hosting this challenge every month. I very much look forward to 2017’s photo ideas! Happy New Year to you and yours.
The holidays were very nice this year, so I can’t complain. It’s nice to spend them with family and friends and be able to sit back and enjoy. I hope you and your family had a great holiday season as well. Thanks for taking part in the challenge and here’s to many more!
Christmas is always better with little ones. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Looking forward to another year of challenges.
That is very much the truth, Mike! They made it so much more enjoyable! Hope you had a great Christmas and New Years!
Happy Christmas and a wonderful 2017 PJ. Your photos really show how Cameron is more into Christmas now – I loved it when my neices and nephews reached that age. I’ve never seen one but I think I want a tickle santa now.
Thanks again for hosting the challenge.

Yes, Cameron was definitely into it more this year, which was great to watch! That age is amazing. Thanks for being part of the challenge and here to more!
You nailed it! I especially like how you changed your position relative to the subject matter, sometimes shooting from above and other times down at floor level. A beautifully-decorated tree with all the lights is really hard to photograph well and you did it very well – no noticeable clipped highlights while still showing enough detail in the shadows. Is this just one shot? Or did you blend a few different exposures? Glad to see you enjoyed so much Cameron time over the holiday season and Happy New Year!
Thanks! I love getting different perspectives when I am shooting things like this. One doesn’t always have to be shooting from the same angle, that’s for sure! And yes, the one is just one shot. I don’t blend different exposures as I’ve never been able to make it look good!
