Photo Blogging Challenge (September 2016): Your town/city

September 30, 2016

This theme turned out to be a tad harder than I expected.

It’s probably because I didn’t get a jump on it as expected. September turned out to be much busier than I expected.

Themes like these are good, but at the same time are tough as it depends on where you live. I didn’t think too much out of the box this month, though, as I waited until the last second. Either way, with being a small town, there are some cool things to capture and I hope I did just that. I’m looking forward to seeing what other people come up with!

We are also officially into the fall season, so as the seasons start to change, I know I’ll be hopefully getting out and taking more photos.

Anyway, let’s move on with the photos! Here are my five for the month. Please make sure you stop back here in a day or so and check out all the other links to go visit others and hopefully comment!

1. On the courthouse square

This is a somewhat iconic gazebo in the middle of town.

2. The Courthouse

My town is the county seat, so many governmental places are here, including the historic county courthouse.

3. History

There’s a lot of historical spots in this town, including this one.

4.Fitch’s Bridge

My love of covered bridges is pretty well documented. This is one in my town.

5. Outdoors

Being such a rural town upstate in New York, there’s a lot of great spots outdoors … and sometimes it’s nice just to stop and enjoy the peace.

There are my five and I look forward to seeing what others had this month!

If you took part in this month’s challenge, make sure to link up below. And for those of you who participated, make sure you try and get to other people’s blogs and comment (here, too!). Let’s continue to grow this challenge and have a strong community. Come back and check out the others who link later on, too!

Also, don’t forget to get back here Sunday, October 2 for the October theme!

NOTE: I set up a Facebook group for those who participate in the challenge and are interested. I’ll post any announcements there and hopefully it can be a place where things are discussed and some interaction etc. You can access it here.

You captured everything I love about history and small town living. I think I could spend the afternoon in that gazebo just people watching. Being in upper New York, I’m sure your town will be ablaze with color here in the next couple weeks and be simply gorgeous. Thanks for sharing and hosting every month. 🙂

The colors are starting to show, that’s for sure I’ll have some photos posted at some point. The history in smaller towns is a ton of fun for sure, and there’s always something new to learn! Thanks for taking part each month!

    Wonderful (fall) pictures!
I have been to Schenectady once – does your town happen to be in that area?

I am about 1:20 southwest of Schenectady. It’s not a bad drive to get from here to there, or vice-versa!

Sometimes just taking a little bit of time to look around creates a deeper appreciation of a place.

I love covered bridges in general, but I am partial to this one as well!

Thanks for the insider’s look at your town. The picnic table has me yearning for a basket and some sunshine – love the simple subject matter, complemented by the simple composition.

I’m a bit surprised you didn’t work Cameron in there somewhere.

And I’m really sorry I haven’t been around to visit everyone’s August post yet. It’s been a crazy month here, so I’ll double up when taking a virtual tour of everyone’s hometown in September.

Agreed on the picnic table. I love simple things when it comes to photos.

And I would have loved to have gotten Cameron into something, but with as much traveling as I did this summer, I didn’t see him as much as I would have liked. I’ll make up for it, though!

My favorite is the picnic table – I love the rawness of it – so beautiful! We don’t have any covered bridges nearby… but I remember moving across country when I was in second grade (DRIVING, no less, my poor parents) and going through a few!

Thanks for the comments. I love that picnic table, too. And the covered bridges are really cool, especially the older, historical ones!

    Great job with the theme!

All are great, but the “history” one is my favorite.
