It’s time.
I’ve talked about this for quite a while, but with all the issues I’ve had with my webhost in 2016, it’s time to make the move.
It’s a nervous feeling to do this because I’ve been with this host for more than 12 years. I was one of the early people in this company and it’s hard to do.
But sometimes, it’s time to move on.
I can handle little things, but a month or so ago, I experienced a multi-day down time. Since the big issue, I haven’t noticed any problems but to say I’m skeptical would be an understatement.
The things they offer me is pretty good. But the reality is – I’m up for another year of hosting. Do I pay for it, or do I make the move and say heck with it and roll the dice.
I’m rolling the dice.
I have been assured I will experience zero down time during this transition, which is good. But at the same time, nothing is ever perfect. I am having things start because my contract with my current host ends on Sunday and I want everything to be moved by then.
The reality is this – some of the other things at my current host offers me are nice, but I don’t use them all. I barely have time to do one site, let alone worrying about trying to build another (I still, one day, want to do a personal website with my work etc.).
So I’m taking my blog and moving it to a new server. Hopefully everything moves smoothly.
I have some posts queued up for the next few days and hopefully they post without issue. When all is said and done, hopefully everything looks and feels perfect.
