Review: Harry’s gives you a nice, clean shave

August 23, 2016

(Disclaimer: I am doing this review on my own, without free product from the company. I joined the company to test their blades in comparison to others I’ve been using.)

As I’ve noted before, I can’t stand shaving. It’s one of the most boring things to do in the world. And it’s frustrating as you have to be careful not to nick yourself.

So I am always looking for a comfortable way to do things.

I’ve been shaving with the Dollar Shave Club (my review) for a few years and I still like the product. But, that doesn’t mean I don’t want to see what else is out there. And I had seen several ads for Harry’s, so I figured I’d give it a go.

That they had a cheaper trial was even better, so I could check things out for cheaper.

This is a quick look and review of the product.

Please note that I ordered the Truman set, which is $15 per shipment. The handle is light and easy to hang onto when you are shaving. That is a bonus, to me, as sometimes handles are uncomfortable to hold on to.

There’s something interesting about Harry’s blades though – they are more flat, if that makes any sense. What I mean by that is they don’t seem to have the look/feel of old-school blades. I was a little worried when I first attached the blade to the handle because it didn’t look traditional. Alas, I persevered and went through with the shave.

Not bad.

OK, one complaint. The blades are really good but the first time I used one, it pulled a little as I shaved. But the second time I used the blade, it was fine. And I haven’t really had the issue with this moving forward any time I pulled out a new blade.

A positive? The blades last. I am one who shaves about every other day, and usually not at all on the weekends. So during the week, I’ll usually shave 2-3 times and be fine. I’ve had blades last several weeks without any problems. This is nice because, again, the shipments are a little more expensive than the Dollar Shave Club – BUT – you don’t need to get them as often, so that means they might, in the end, be cheaper. Either way, they are much cheaper than anything like these you will find in Wal-Mart or some other store.

In the end, what I found was a comfortable handle with a solid and sharp blade that lasts. In the nearly 20 shaves I’ve done with Harry’s blades, I’ve only nicked myself once. THAT is pretty impressive, as I have a sensitive area on my chin that – when not careful – can get nicked up pretty easily.

I like Harry’s blades and still have several to use before I have to make a decision on which I will prefer to move forward with in the end. The trial is pretty cheap, so if you are looking to test it out, give it a go. Just make sure you cancel if you don’t like them, or the next shipment will arrive a few months later!

Harper got her first foul ball (as you can see she enjoyed!) and we also had the chance to grab a couple others and give them to some other dogs. All in all, four dogs walked away with balls!

I rarely sit on a window seat when flying, but both flights today had open spots, so two of us could comfortably be in a three-seat row. Sat next to the window to do some photos/video and got some nice shots. Flying still amazes me. @SouthwestAir #Southwest #Flying #Airplane

I hate being in front of the camera, but also realize sometimes it's not the worst thing in the world. So, I'm getting better with it. Week 4's theme was all about us and having us in front of the camera, so I tried to come up with a creative way to do it.

The theme for Week 3 of the 52-week video challenge was "Show your process of making something." Alas, I didn't get the time to do what I wanted to do, so I attacked something I filmed over the summer that I kept putting off.
