Three years we’ve been doing this challenge.
Three years!
It seems like only yesterday that I first thought up this idea and tried like heck to recruit people for it. We’ve had a pretty good little group and I think, besides me, there’s only one or two others who have done every single month.
Every month!
Still, even those who have only missed a few, or others who have participated here and there or only once, it’s been fun to host this challenge and I look to keeping it going for as long as I can.
This month went by pretty quick and I got a few shots I wanted, but the theme “three” actually stumped me a little, too. I think I got a good selection of photos and I look forward to seeing what others came up with.
Anyway, it’s time to get into it. My selections are below. Remember to link up at the bottom and visit others and hopefully comment!
1. Three placed geocaches
This is the third geocache I ever placed (including events, I have more than 100 now — though not all are active). I am a believer in archiving caches after a certain length of time, but there are a few I just can’t do it to (my first one and this one are two of those). This is still the original container, too. I placed it on May 4, 2008. To date, it has 100 finds and five DNFs. I also noticed when I went to take this photo that I think somebody put a new log in there, which is disappointing because the original was still there, I believe. Though I also might have switched it out. I can’t remember. I’ll have to look again when I do some spring maintenance on my caches in a few weeks. I might end up replacing this container, too, as it seems to have gotten a little beat up, as one can imagine.

My third cache placed.
2. Three Jettas
In early March, I traded in my second Jetta to get my third. It’s also my third Volkswagen. I’d say it was my third stick shift, but I didn’t go that route this time. This car has been extremely good for me and I’m glad I went with this car.

My third Jetta.
3. Three eggs
Easter, of course, was this past weekend. Cameron, my nephew and godson, was going to get his first Easter egg hunt! I set it up before he was over and when he got here and before his nap, he got to go on the hunt. More on that in a moment, though. Here are three of the eggs that he was seeking.

Three eggs … they were hidden elsewhere after the photo!
4. Three finds
This was the third egg Cameron found. It was at this point that he was starting to get it a little bit more and was really on the eye out for them. It was fun to watch when he found them on his own without hints — his excitement was higher.

Finding his third egg!
5. Three Easters!
Cameron isn’t three yet (December), but this was his third Easter. I wanted to set up this Easter egg hunt, but not knowing how he’d take to it, I only set out 10. In hindsight, I wish I had done more because he really loved it. When he found the 10th one (one he missed the first time), he was jumping around and all happy. Once inside the house, he loved opening the eggs and seeing what was inside (candy, a couple of toys etc.), so it was very much worth doing. This was after he had found all 10 eggs and before we all headed inside. I look forward to doing this again next year.

Found all the eggs!
There are my five and I look forward to seeing what others had this month!
If you took part in this month’s challenge, make sure to link up below. And for those of you who participated, make sure you try and get to other people’s blogs and comment (here, too!). Let’s continue to grow this challenge and have a strong community. Come back and check out the others who link later on, too!
Also, don’t forget to get back here Friday, April 1 to see the theme for April (no fooling)!
NOTE: I set up a Facebook group for those who participate in the challenge and are interested. I’ll post any announcements there and hopefully it can be a place where things are discussed and some interaction etc. You can access it here.

Love the Easter eggs on (what looks like to me) Christmas tree needles! 🙂 The Easter bunny brought my son 10 eggs as well this year, I guess 10 is the going rate for 3 year olds!

I put three of the eggs on a small pine tree for the photo, so it could be a Christmas tree of sorts! 😀

As someone who has only looked for geocaches, I had no idea there was maintenance and other work that goes along with placing one until I came across you blog (several years ago!). We always just appreciated the fact that someone placed one for us to find.
The excitement of a small child is certainly contagious. I wasn’t even there, but the photos of him make me smile thinking about it. 🙂
Congrats on 3 years!

Placing geocaching can be quite a pain at times. You have to go out and fix, replace, check etc. There is definitely some work to it. But it’s also quite rewarding when people find them!
The excitement sure is contagious. And a lot of fun when you get some good stuff on camera!
Happy 3rd anniversary! lovely photos, like the colour of your new car and of course, Cameron and his Easter eggs 🙂
Thanks so much! Here’s to more anniversaries!
I love the Easter photos!
It’s always fun to see joy in the eyes of a child.

I’ve always liked most holidays, but the fringe ones were something I looked at as a time just to eat. With Cameron around, it changes my outlook. All holidays are cool now!
Great job once again sir! These don’t even seem like challenges to you anymore. They seem to be the complete opposite for you, like a walk in the park. So jealous of how great your vision is. And I like the hidden theme of having the color blue in each and every picture. It’s just amazing how subtle you make things! Good job my friend.

I sense some sarcasm here… 😀
Where’s the blue in my first photo though?
Hi PJ,
I like your car shot..the ice around it gives the image a bit of texture. Cameron as always looks cute I like your your 3 easter eggs shot, I found it hard to find three of a kind, but I guess it is there if you look.

Thanks so much. And shockingly enough — that’s not ice around the car! That’s just the dirty parking lot from a winter of salt and such! Crazy!
Thank so much for hosting this. And coming up with the themes! I like your new car, that’s a great shade of blue. There is also not much better than kids at Easter.
Looking forward to next month’s challenge.

I was highly sold on this color. I had a blue before, but this was a lighter shade. I thought it looked pretty sharp. When I drove it and realized how smooth it was, it turned out to be a no-brainer!
These are WONDERFUL! The egg picture reminded me a bit of a mix of Easter and Christmas… it was very pretty. The geocache one reminds me of how our two GORGEOUS and created caches were stolen. 🙁 I was so upset. So never make them too cool looking!
It truly blows my mind how people steal geocaches. I never get the point. Just leave our game alone. I’ve had too many ammo cans stolen. Annoying. It’s why some people won’t put much into caches anymore. They’d rather put junk out and have it not slolen than have good and see it stolen!
PJ, I think your car photo is good enough to be in a Volkswagon commercial or magazine ad. It’s funny how we can be so loyal to a particular make of car, isn’t it?
Cameron is such a good sport every month. He’s gong to have such a great collection of photographs to look back on. He’s lucky to have a photographer uncle!

I’d be more than happy to share my VW photo with them and make some money off it! 😀
And Cameron is a good sport most of the time. There are others when he just flat-out refuses to be in a photo. But I can understand that too.
I can’t believe I’m this late in visiting every blog for this month. You selected five really great three’s! I figured Cameron would play a major part in this one. 🙂 His expression in the last photos is priceless! I find geocaching very interesting, although I admit I don’t really understand it well. Thanks for being such great host every month.
Sometimes lateness happens! I Haven’t visited everybody’s blog yet, either. But that is coming soon! Cam is always going to play some part in the challenge, if I can get him to cooperate. He was so excited at the end.
You should check out geocaching. Feel free to ask any questions. I have a 101 series on here about it, too. It’s a fun hobby!
