Small victories are still victories.
If you remember, from last month’s posting, I had some higher numbers. My A1C was also high, so I knew I needed to take care of it all.
And I also knew it wasn’t going to be easy.
My daily readings were all over the place, too. I knew they were too high, and then they’d come down, but it depended on the day.
It was frustrating to say the least.
So, my goal for this month (at least in my head) was to get my daily reading all under a certain threshold. Now, realize the readings are still high. I know this. But I knew I had to give myself goals that wouldn’t frustrate me.
For the past couple of days, I’ve been under that threshold.
I know this is all vague, but that’s how I need and want it to be for now. I appreciate any and all feedback, but I’m still trying to grab hold of this once again and bring myself back to where I need to be.
For the month, my eating habits haven’t been bad. They could definitely be better, but I’m working on learning and understanding. It’s not easy to count carbs and things like that with every single meal or every single snack. If you are out to dinner, you have to think about what you are getting and what it will do to you.
I’m still working on it.
There is definite improvement. I still need to get myself moving more. I tend to chain myself to my desk too much, and I need to get out and smell the fresh air more. I know that will help, too. I just need to push myself more. Though, to be fair, the weather hasn’t been the greatest. It’s not an excuse, I’m just throwing that out there.
I have some small goals I need to meet for my own personal satisfaction. I think it will help me as I continue to get better with this. One of them is doing better with keeping a log of everything I eat. This isn’t easy. I’ve tried to use phone apps, figuring it will be easy. But then I end up not doing it because I don’t want my phone being used all the time. Then I’ve tried to write things down, but I’ll forget the notepad or something and it falls to hell.
So I’m trying to figure the best way.
I might revisit the phone apps soon. My issue is figuring how to put everything in correctly, especially if you are eating out. I want to make sure I have a good record of what I am doing, but what if I have something out and there’s no labels or nutritional value?
My other concern right now is baseball season is coming up. I don’t want to slack off, but I know I’ll go to many games this summer. I’m going to try and do more healthy things, such as bring my own water bottle I can fill up there, maybe bring a healthier snack with me, and try not to eat so much ballpark food. I also need to take advantage of the stadiums that have a full wraparound, allowing me to walk a few laps to get some exercise in.
But as March comes to an end, I feel I’m doing better. I’m not where I want to be, that’s for sure, but I am improving and that’s the overall goal. I keep telling myself this is a long journey and as long as the results are getting better, it’s moving in the right direction. I can’t help but to want it to move faster, but I know it takes time and have been patient as I continue to improve.
