For those who know me, you know that I don’t have much luck with professional teams. The Islanders, the Phillies, the Colts.
I was alive and a young phan when the Phils won in 1980. I was heartbroken in 1993 when Joe Carter dashed my dreams.
I was upset when the Islanders went on their run in 1993, losing in the Conference finals to the Canadiens.
The Colts run in 1995 was gravy just reaching the AFC final (close your arms, Aaron Brooks!) The last several years have been heartbreaking.
There’s nothing better than watching the Patriots collapse in monumental fashion. That was a collapse like the Yankees losing a 3-0 lead to the Red Sox. It’s funny, too, how much that situation compares to this one.
The Colts HAD to beat the Patriots to get to the Super Bowl. Not the Chargers, not the Ravens — it had to be the Pats. Just like the Sox had to beat the Yankees. Now bring on the Card….err, Bears.
Belichick was a prick after the game, shocker. Even Marino and Boomer were like “What was that?” after the interview.
Now the only thing I wish is that I had recorded that game. I really would like to have that one for all-time!
Now some things to smile about.
A great image:
This is a scene I’m loving. When all the naysayers want to cry about Manning and Dungy, stare at this photo. Stare at it hard. They’ve won it. Now on to the Bowl.
But, there are scenes a bit better than the one above:
And for those Baltimore fans who still can’t accept that the Colts are in Indy, this is an IRSAY holding the AFC Trophy:
The next two weeks will finally be bearable to me. I can’t wait!
