Pathtags

Just another episode of Hides and Finds to throw some tidbits on my caching items.

Unfortunately, I haven’t been caching in a bit. Real cold weather and work have tied me up. I’m hoping to go find a few Thursday on my day off. Not sure about Saturday as I have some other plans I want to do.

First thing — I placed my order for my pathtag today!

I decided on getting 150 of them as I know I’ll want to trade and then have some to trade in person or give away etc. The wait time for a blueprint is like 2-4 days or something like that. Then I have to approve or deny and go to the next step. If I deny, they try and fix. If I accept, they push it through and 4-6 weeks later, I’ll have my tags.

I’m super pumped!

Also, I’ll be ordering some new signature wood coins soon. However, I’m gonna make them different and through a different company this time. Just to switch things up a little. I like the work this company does, so I’m trying to make it look pretty much like my pathtag, except in one color and it will be on a wood coin.

We’re working on having an event in the area soon. I want to try and get one going so we can all get together. Get us ready for the spring!

Speaking of spring, New York’s Mega Event — the ASP Geobash — is being held May 15-17. I wanted to go last year, but being I’d only been caching like 2 months and change and had only been to one event, I didn’t know much, so I didn’t go.

This year, I’m planning it.

I put in and got vacation time the other day, so I’ll be off the Wednesday before through the Tuesday after. I believe the plan is to head up Thursday and stay through Saturday and then do some caching Sunday before heading home. My goal is to cache, meet a lot of people, trade some coins/pathtags/signature items and mingle a lot. This event looks like a blast.

There’s also a group geocoin. It’s non-trackable, but it will be personalized. I’m planning on buying about 25-30 of them, so I’m looking at around 40 bucks or so. It will be a cool item to trade and collect. I

As for lodging, I’m not much of a camper, but I’ve decided I don’t want to spent $100+ a night on a hotel room, so a couple of us are looking at a cabin. I want to get a three-room one so there’s a little privacy as well as electricity. There won’t be internet, unfortunately, but I’ll have the laptop and can “log” by keeping track of things in a Word file etc. There is free Wi-Fi at the event site, so I can always get there in the morning, sign on my laptop and check e-mail and log any travel bugs and such I grab or place. That way, at least, those are where they need to be.

The cabin I am looking at is near the shower/bathroom area, so it wouldn’t be a far walk if needing to use the facilities. And, it’s like $90 a night, which isn’t bad. And if we have 3-4 people in there, even better. Still, even if two, 45 bucks a night isn’t too shabby. The best part is that we’ll be in the park (saving money there) and it will be somewhat like roughing it! I’m sure it will leave me with a lot of photo opportunities, too!
