So going to the nutritionist wasn’t a bad thing. In fact, it made things a bit better.
She said the diet my Doc gave me was the one he loves to give out. It’s a little drastic, she said, but it works well and keeps people in line a bit more.
The best thing she said was not to get too caught up in it. By that, she meant eat what you want, follow the list though and eat a lot less. Which is good, sound advice — one that is easy to think about, but telling yourself that doesn’t always work.
I’ve been pretty solid with it all. And now that she gave me an even better list of food (really detailed, where it goes in regard to groups), it should be even better.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ll cheat now and then. And she said, for sound of body and mind, people need to do it. Have a big fat burger with fries and live it up. Just watch what else I have that day, keep it as tight as possible and don’t let one day turn to two, to three etc and totally throw the diet off.
I was fine with this for the past couple weeks, but now it’s a bit better. I basically have a better grasp on it all. She even said an occasional snickers bar wouldn’t hurt — just watch my sugars even closer that day.
So we’ll see how it goes. But the outlook isn’t too bad. I’m staying pretty positive with the outlook and have it in my mind that none of this will beat me. Plus, losing weight and getting into better shape will help me with softball this summer!
Although I am trying to cut this cold I feel coming on before it ever hits. Maybe a little soup will help!
